What are the costs of designing and operating a Website?

Competitive website Development and Maintenance Rates

By maintaining strict control of our overheads and using least cost components in designing websites, we are able to offer extremely competitive rates. Actual costs will obviously depend on the amount of work required to meet our customer's specifications but we have found that an average 3 page site would cost around R 1800.00 to develop. This would cover the overall website design theme and navigation, inserting user provided text (300 words per page) and images (2 per page), upload and test on-site and initial submission to the search engines.

Although we are a South African operation, we will gladly accept commissions from other countries subject to our normal payment conditions. Exchange rates will be as applicable on the date of the transaction being processed by our bank.

Our terms are 50% payable on acceptance by the client of the mutually agreed final specification and 50% on publication of the completed website to the client's domain.

Subsequent updating for a website will be subject to either another quote or will be billed for on a time and material basis. For your information, the current maintenance rate for 2008 is R 190.00 per hour.

Virtual Tours

The minimum price for a Virtual Tour in the Johannesburg area is R 1250.00. This includes all travel, photography, standard web page creation, web hosting and software licenses for up to two panoramas (e.g. 2 rooms). Additional panoramas will be charged at R 275.00 each.

N.B. There are no other recurring charges and our policy for Virtual Tours is that you only pay when you are completely satisfied with each panoramic view.

Subject to available resources, we will also undertake projects outside of the Johannesburg area - just ask us to quote.

Website Hosting

We do not offer a website hosting service at this time but are happy to assist our clients enter into a contract with an Internet Service Provider (ISP). For information and planning purposes, approximate current costs in South Africa for a Windows Server host are:

Domain Registration:	+- R 230.00
Domain Annual fee:	+- R 70.00
Hosting - Set up Charge:	+- R 175.00 (one-time)
Hosting - Monthly:	+- R 200.00 (monthly)

Search Engine Submission

Websites developed by Pennyroyal Systems are optimised to incorporate the keywords defined by the client that are likely to be used to enter a query into an Internet search engine. These keywords will be incorporated as far as possible in the copy used on the site pages either by modifying existing documents or creating new text.

Where possible we will submit websites using the free services that are available, however, it should be noted that there is a general trend for the various Search Engines to only offer chargeable directory entries.

The initial site submission is included in the initial price quoted for the website creation. An on-going Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) service involving the analysis of site statistics and modifications can be undertaken for an additional fee.
